Krell Named to the NAIA All-American Team   March, 26th, 2009

sophomore center Viktoria Krell was named an NAIA Second Team, All American on Thuesday.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College
sophomore center Viktoria Krell has been named an NAIA Division I Second Team All-American by the All-America committee.
The Ludwigsburg, Germany, native, finished the year averaging 17.5 points per game and pulling down 10.5 rebounds.
"Viktoria had a tremendous season," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John Wethington said. "Our team's success runs through her. The hard work she has put in this season has paid off and she definitely deserves this honor."

Krell Named MSC Women´s Basketball Player of the year.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore center Viktoria Krell is the Mid-South Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year as voted on by the MSC coaches.

Krell, a Ludwigsburg, Germany, native, led the MSC in rebounds (10.6) and double-doubles (17) during the regular season. She also finished second in the league in scoring (17.7) and fourth in field goal percentage (50.5).

Krell is just 77 points away from becoming the eight women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points. She is 12th on the program's all-time list with 923 points and is sixth on the program's all-time rebound list with 584.

In addition to Krell, junior guard Sierra Rambert was named to the all-conference team. Rambert was the conference's fourth leading scorer (16.1) and finished in the top 10 during the regular season in field goal percentage (41.1), free throw percentage (66.3) and assists (80).

Lindsey Wilson junior guard Eric McPherson earned all-conference honors for the Blue Raider men. McPherson finished ranked fifth in the league in scoring (16.3), fourth in field goal percentage (47.5) and free throw percentage (80.1) and fifth in double-doubles (4).

"Viki was terrific this week," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington said. "She was solid in the post and really showed a quite leadership out on the court when we needed the most.

"She deserves this recognition."

Krell helped the Blue Raiders overcome a 14-point first half deficit en route to a 60-48 win over then-No.9-ranked Campbellsville University last Thursday. Krell finished the game with 24 points and a career-high 19 rebounds helping Lindsey Wilson hand the Lady Tigers their first conference loss of the season.

To finish the week, Krell set another career-best scoring 30 points -- and adding 17 rebounds -- in a 70-64 win over host Georgetown College on Saturday.

With her week, Krell continued her march up the Lindsey Wilson all-time scoring and rebounding lists. In her 62-game career, Krell has 905 points -- 12th on the program's all-time list -- and she is sixth all-time with 567 rebounds.

Krell's 301 rebounds this season is already a single-season program record.

Krell is in the top-three in four different statistical categories in the Mid-South Conference. She leads the conference in rebounding (10.8) and double-doubles (16); she is second in scoring (18.3) and third in field goal percentage (52.1).

She becomes the first Mid-South Conference player to earn the weekly national honor this season. The NAIA award is the second of Krell's career. She also earned the award once last season.

Lindsey Wilson is 21-7 this season and 6-3 in the MSC. The Blue Raiders have won three in a row and six of their last seven after losing their first two conference games of the season.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 26, as Lindsey Wilson travels to West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, W.Va.

hey ich wollte mich mal wieder bei euch allen melden und berichten wie es mir hier so ergeht. hab mich jetzt nach gut 7 wochen sehr gut eingelebt und komm gut zurecht. ich weiß jetzt wo alles ist, die ganzen organisatorischen sachen sind auch soweit geklärt und ich kann mich voll und ganz auf schule und basketball konzentrieren. 

basketballerisch läuft es im moment nicht bei uns. seid dem wir gegen das nummer 2 team in der nation gewonnen haben, sind wir auf einen 0 - 6 losing streak. haben seidem nicht mehr ein spiel gewonnen. auch das wir nach der 3ten niederlage in folge bis nachts um 1.30 trainiert haben, hat nichts geändert. wir haben jetzt noch 2 saison spiele und werden wohl auf 4 oder 5 enden. dann geht es in die regionals, da werden die karten neu gemischt. unser ziel die confrence zu gewinnen, wird sehr schwer, und wir müssen gewinnen um in national tournament nach kansas zu kommen. falls das nicht passiert, sind wir in 2 wochen mit basketball hier fertig. 6 unserer sophomore haben schon bei NCAA D1 unis unterschrieben. haben also nächstes jahr ein komplett neues team.  

schulisch läuft es sehr gut im moment. hab einen GPA von 3.5 was ungefähr 1,4 schnitt ist. es ist viel arbeit für mich aber ich komm immer besser klar. brauch so viel credits wie möglich in der schule, also stunden, um dann nächstes jahr die uni zu wechseln und an eine NCAA uni zu gehen. werde warscheinlich auch sommer semester machen. wann ich in deutschland bin, kann ich im moment noch nicht sagen, wir warscheinlich zwischen dem 15 mai und 8 juni sein. muss hier sein wenn ich summer school mach. 

ansonsten läuft hier alles seinen gang. die anfangs euphorie hat sich ein bisschen gelegt, was ja normal is, aber es ist nach wie vor super hier und ich bin froh das ich endlich hier bin. neulich bin ich von 3 polizei autos angehalten worden. erst war es eins, mit blaulich hinter mir, und ich wusste nicht was ich machen sollte, bin einfach weitergefahren...dann kammen 2 weiter dazu...nach ca. 5 min hab ich dann angehalten. ich hab mir halt nichts gedacht, weil die kein schild oder so gezeigt. dann habe sie gedacht ich bin ein krimineller. nachdem ich gestopt hab kam einer mit pistole und einer hat ins auto geleuchtet mit einer taschenlampe...hab ihnen dann erklärt das ich deutscher bin und die situation hat sich endspannt. aber sie haben mir erklärt das sie gedacht haben ich flüchte und beim nächsten mal soll ich sofort anhalten wenn hinter mir blaulich ist...nja, im nachinein lustig, aber in dem moment hab ich riesen angst gehabt..;)

2008 camp

Katharina Schnitzer:

I had a lot of problems in Monroe. At the end I never got to play because the NCAA got to know that I had played with an American player who got paid. So I decided to leave before Christmas. At the end I can say that the Coaches were quite nice, especially Coach Ok. But the city was really small, nothing to do and, I guess, other European players would prefer to go to another College in another city that is just bigger.

The NCAA is really strict now and everybody gets a punishment who played with a paid player.

I am back in Germany and play here first league.

Darf diese Saison noch nicht spielen weil er in Europa als "professional" eingestuft wurde. Im nächsten Jahr ist er dann Freshman. Zur Uni geht er und alle Kurse werden angerechnet.

Hier sein Bericht:

die mannschaft ist richitg gut. spieln übermorgen, also mittwoch, southeastern illinois. #2 team in the nation. wir wollen die confrence gewinnen und bis ins finale bei den nationals in kansas kommen. die mannschaft is sehr gut. 5 von den sophomores haben schon bei NCAA D1 unterschrieben. neulich war der coach von eastern kentucky (D1) bei training. hat gesagt sie behalten mich im auge und beobachten mich. unsere coach kennt auch so viele leute, also perfekt hier. missisippi state war neulich der trainer da, guter freund von meinem coach...also super vorraussetzungen hier... 

Bin ja jetzt gute 3 Wochen hier in Charleston, Illinois. Ca. 2 Std von St.Louis, Indianapolis und Chicago entfernt. Also im Prinzip genau in der Mitte. Es ist unmenschlich kalt. Ca. -25 C...wenn man den starken Wind hier mitzählt. Draußen liegen 25 cm Schnee. Ich kann euch sagen, nach einer Woche nervt die Kälte. 

Wohne hier in einem sehr schönen, extra für die Uni, angelegten ''University Village''. In einem Haus mit 2 anderen. Hatte auch Bilder bei Studivz reingestellt kürzlich. Ja wie gesagt, es ist sehr schön auch hier in den Häusern. Jeder hat sein eigenes Zimmer und gleich um die Ecke ist ein Wal Mart, geöffnet 24/7! 

Ein typischer Tag hier für mich sieht so aus. Ich fahr früh's mit dem shuttle zur Schule. Ca. gg 8 geht die erste Stunde los. Je nachdem wie der Plan aussieht, gehts dann bis 15 Uhr so weiter...Zwischen durch, in freistunden wird trainiert. Kraftraum oder halle. Ab 15 Uhr is dann offiziell Training, von Montag bis Samstag. Immer ca. 30 bis 60 min Video, dann anschließend training für 2 Std. Die Halle ist sehr geil. Das Parkett glänzt, der Video Raum mit Beamern und riesen Tafeln. Und Tischen, Stühlen...Ledersessel....Notebooks, alles drin. Wir spielen immer Mittwochs und Samstag. An Spieltagen haben wir shootaround und Video und großes Essen;) Das Niveu hier ist wahnsinnig hoch. Mit nichts was ich bisher kannte oder gesehen habe zu vergleichen. Wir sind eines der besten Colleges im Staat Illinois. Es fällt mir zunehmend leichter hier. Am Anfang war es hard, aber man gewöhnt sich so schnell an das Tempo hier. Ich würde gern mal sehen wir es jetzt für mich in Deutschland wäre...warscheinlich würde ich auf dem Feld einschlafen...;) Es sind auch schon einige Trainer von anderen großen Unis auf mich aufmerksam geworden...Im Training sind oft Scouts und coaches die zugucken..Ein paar haben auch schon mit mir gesprochen... 

Nach dem training gehts mit dem shuttle zurück nachhause. Ca. gg 18 Uhr sind wir wieder hier. Dann werden Hausaufgaben gemacht und gelernt. Dann ist Freizeit...An Wochenenden ist am meisten los. Die typischen College Partys wie man es aus dem Fernsehn kennt...Es ist genauso wie in Filmen;) Übrigens, 4 Liter Benzin kosten hier 1.40 Euro (!!!) Das heißt der Liter Sprit für .35 Cents!!!

So, ich glaub das reicht erstmal für heute. Achso diejenigen die gefragt haben was genau ich den studiere: Health & Sports Education!

Julia Horti went to Canada to study.

Martina Weber: was at the tournament in 2005 and received a scholarship from Iona NCAA div1, made it to the WNBA 2007/08 and played for New York Liberty.

Yassin Ibhibi, who got a scholarship from Buffalo graduated in April 2007 and is now playing for Cologne div 1 Germany. 2008/09 he is playing in France and also for the German National team.

Incirlik Hodjas Basketball Success Story

  Incirlik Hodjas basketball players (and captains of the team) sophomore Brandon Combs (#42) and senior Kris Roeske (#72) (pictured with their coach Shannon Daniels) helped lead the Incirlik Hodjas to their highest finish ever in the Dodd’s European Basketball Championship (3^rd place) this year in Mannheim, Germany.  The boys were also selected as all tournament players.  The boys later traveled with their coach to the Slammers Basketball Camp/Tournament/Scholarship try-out in Bonn, Germany where they were also selected as all tournament players and played in the tournament all-star game. 

  As a result of Kris Roeske’s athletic and academic achievements he has signed a scholarship and will be playing Division 3 basketball for the Wesley College Wolverines in Dover, Delaware (Delaware’s oldest private college).  Kris’s high school basketball coach, Shannon Daniels, had this to say…”It is not often that you have the honor of coaching a student/athlete like Kris…I saw something in him the first time I saw him on the court and I told him that he had the talent to play college ball if he worked hard…it wasn’t until just a few weeks ago when he signed his letter of intent, received his acceptance letter, and talked to the coach at Wesley on the phone that he finally believed me.  Kris is a leader both on and off of the court and one of those rare people that you meet and you know right away that they are destined to succeed”.

2005 Feedback from player who reveived a scholarship

Hallo

Inzwischen geht es mir hier sehr gut. Ich hatte am Anfang ziemliche Probleme mit Heimweh und mit der Sprache, aber das ist sehr viel besser geworden. Mein Englisch ist zwar immernoch ziemlich grottig, aber ich versteh inzwischen das meiste und kann mich meistens auch ausdruecken.

Ich wohne hier in einem Haus mit zwei anderen Maedchen aus meinem Team ungefaehr 15 min (mit dem Auto) von der Schule entfernt. Mit den beiden aus meinem Haus versteh ich mich total gut und langsam fange ich auch an, andere Leute kennenzulernen.

Wir haben ein ziemlich faules Leben. Ausser Training jeden Tag haben wir hier nicht sonderlich viel zu tun. Was Basketball angeht, war ich am Anfang ein bisschen unzufrieden, weil das Training nicht wirklich anstrengend war und ich zu allem Ueberfluss auch noch Center spielen muss. Aber inzwischen fange ich an, mich auf der Position einzurichten und das Training ist auch besser geworden. Ausserdem hab ich mir ein Fahrrad gekauft und fahre 2 mal die Woche damit zur Schule, was zwischen 40 und 50 min dauert. Alle halten mich fuer verrueckt, weil Fahrrad fahren hier ja doch eher ungewoehnlich ist, vor allem wenn man eine roommate mit Auto hat.

Wir hatten schon 2 Spiele, wovon wir 1 gewonnen und 1 verloren haben. Gestern war unser erstes Heimspiel (das wir nach Verlaengerung mit 9 verloren haben). Die Heimspiele sind hier schon ziemlich riesig. Es waren zwar nicht superviele Zuschauer da, aber definitiv mehr, als wir in Deutschland mit Maedchenbasketball haben wuerden. Ausserdem hatten wir Cheerleader, einen Hallensprecher und die Schulband hat gespielt. Aber was ich jedesmal wieder ungewoehnlich finde ist, dass vor jedem Spiel die Nationalhymne gesungen wird und dass wir vor jedem Spiel beten, obwohl die meisten hier nur in die Kirche gehen, wenn ihre Eltern sie zwingen. http://www.kaskaskia.edu/athletics/index.asp  ( webpage von der Schule/ Junior College)

ich hab dir ja versprochen, dass ich mich nach einer Weile melde und dir erzähle wie es mir hier in Idaho gefällt..
Nun, das Training hier ist auf jeden Fall ganz anders als in Deutschland, viel intensiver und anstrengender. Laufen sehr viele Liniensprints, und auch an Training um 6Uhr morgens musste ich mich erst mal gewöhnen.. Jetzt hat auch das offizielle Training angefangen und wir trainieren noch öfter und auch die Trainingseinheiten sind länger. Freu mich aber schon auf die Saison, haben ein gutes Team, können bestimmt weit kommen!
Ansonsten ist Pocatello eine sehr kleine Stadt, mitten im Nirgendwo!:) Aber finde die Uni sehr schön und auch der Unterricht ist nicht schwer. Hab nur etwas Angst vor dem Winter, hab gehört dass er sehr lang und sehr sehr kalt wird.

2005 Feedback from the tournament

Coming back to all those players who think it was a waste of time and money: The girls tournament had 13 girls who were looking to get a scholarship this year. 9 of them are signed, 7 with a div 1 school and 2 with a Junior College ! If you are good, you will get a scholarship. We can already announce that next year, we will many schools coming over, schools already informed us.

  I just want to thank you for a wonderful turnament and inspiration that followed. I dont know how far you guys have got on making the CD's to send. But I would like to know If you are all done? I would like to buy or have the games that we've played. I dont know how you deal with this. But I rememberd what you said at the dinner the first night..that we where suppose to do our on "research" meaning sending in the tapes that we have, to colleges ourselfs. ,I am writing on behalf of a number of players who attended the basketball tournament last weekend, and left extremely disappointed. There are a number of things I would like to bring to your attention that would a) imply reimbursement or b) at the least bring to your attention flaws in your program which could be improved for the futurein order to prevent the same disillusionment of last weekends tournament. I am aware that each individual paid around 250 Euros for the tournament, which does NOT include air/train fees. This is already A LOT of money spent by STUDENTS! Thus, I can argue: 1) Outside the hotel we stayed at there was a large sign that clearly stated 'Friday-Sunday 49 Euros a night'. We all paid the same price REGARDLESS a stay of two nights or three. This already DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!  2) In your webpage it stated that our high price of around 250 Euros included a jersey (shorts and top). WE ONLY RECIEVED A TOP!!! 3) Also in your webpage it stated there were to be +20 coaches/scouts. However, this was not the case. There were only 4. 4) We were to have four games that is already a very minimal amount of games if one is trying to be scouted. I realize this is all that was able to fit in two days; however, the 4 scouts came HALF WAY THROUGH the two games that took place on the Saturday and Sunday mornings. I do not find this fair. 5) I am not sure about the Saturday game, but I AM sure that on Sunday morning there was only ONE referee who tried his best to ref fairly. Unfortunately his best was NOT ENOUGH! ONE ref does cannot account for a fair game. 6) There was an uneven distribution of skill and talent amongst the teams. One team was immaculate whereas the others were not. They were not equal. This is not fair for an overall team participation. 7) Included in our high price SHOULD have been dinner and lunch! 8) We were under the impression that the buffet on Saturday evening was to have a wide variety. If this were the case we would not have been hesitant to accept the high price of 9 Euros. 9) The 'shuttle' service: I do not believe two vans which fit 9 people (including the driver & 11 people if not seat-belted) is suitable two chauffer three teams around. Players were waiting around. Nilly and I had to take a taxi to the bahnhof because the slammers 'shuttle' service was at the airport. 10) The change of schedule (or lack thereof) on Sunday which accounted for the 10 best players playing against each other was NOT FAIR!!!!  This seemed incredibly unfair and a covert act of favoring. 11) Other complaints would include small yet important things such as: Not enough practice. No decent balls to practice with and the balls that were decent, there were not enough of. No shot clock. No use of the scoreboard.  I highly recommend that you take these into heavy consideration. I also hope you realize the disenchantment upon which the tournament was based and that many students left upset, disappointed, and angry. Thank you, Juliene Sinclair

Hallo aus Kalifornien!Mein name ist Michelle Allotey und ich bin seit diesem Herbstse- mester an der California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, NCAA 1, mit einem vollen Basketball Stipendium! Wie's dazu gekommen ist? Ich wollte unbedingt nach dem Abitur nach Amerika ans College und Basketball spielen und wusste nur nicht so recht wie ich all das wahr machen sollte! Ich hab durch Bekannte von Slammers erfahren und hab mit Iska Kontakt aufgenommen,die mir dann gesagt hat ich soll ihr ein paar Tapes und einen Lebenslauf schicken. So, und ca. 2 Monate spaeter haben sich schon einige Schulen bei mir gemeldet, die meine Tapes gesehen hatten und an mir interessiert waren! Slammers hat wirklich tolle Kontake in den ganzen Usa,was mir dann die Moeglichkeit gegeben hat mir eine schule in meinem bevorzugten Staat (Kalifornien) auszusuchen. In den folgenden Monaten haben Iska und Sam sich mit mir durch saemtlichen Papierkram gekaempft um meinen Traum wahr zu machen! Ich bin jetzt seit ca. seit drei Monaten hier und geniesse jeden Tag den ich hier sein kann! Basketball auf Universitaetslevel hier ist wirklich super professionell und intensiv,d.h. sechs mal die Woche Training, Krafttraining und  Aus- dauertraining fuer 6-7 Monate am Stueck! Das ist schon ziemlich anstrengend,aber wenn man gerne Basketball spielt und auch die eine oder andere Sache dafuer opfern kann, das beste was einem passieren kann! Wir haben hier einen Headcoach und drei Assistantcoaches, die ganztags angestellt sind und uns hier die besten Moeglichkeiten bieten um uns zu verbessern! Nicht zu vergessen das Studium, was hier in 4 Jahren abgeschlossen werden kann! Egal ob ihr 1 oder 4 Jahre bleiben wollt, College wird auf jeden fall eine tolle Erfahrung sein,die euch in vielen Bereichen weiterbringt, ob sprachlich, sportlich und menschlich! 
ich bin wirklich froh, dass ich mit Slammers in Kontakt bekommen bin, denn sie haben einfach tolle Kontake und kennen die jeweiligen Schulen und Basketballprogramme sehr gut,d.h. sie koennen euch hinsichtlich eurer persoenlichen Vorstellungen beraten. Ich hab dadurch genau das gefunden, was ich wollte:schoene Gegend,gutes Basket- ballprogramm und eine anerkannte Universitaet! Wenn ihr also ans College wollt, kann ich's euch nur empfehlen es auf diesem Weg zu probieren, denn die Kontakte die Slammers hat werden's euch um einiges einfacher machen ein Stipentium an einer Schule zu bekommen, die euch gefaellt!

College ist auf jeden Fall eine Erfahrung die ich anderen Basketballern empfehlen würde. Basketball ist hier sehr populär und es ist schon etwas besonderes vor einer Kulisse von bis zu 9000 Zuschauern zu spielen. Außerdem ist es eine perfekte Vorbereitung auf Profibasketball. Ich freue mich auf vier geile Jahre hier. Dank an Slammers BAsketball Camp, die mir das Stipedium in Buffalo vermittelt haben.

College is a big experience which I would like to recommend to any basketball player. Basketball is very popular in America and it is something special to play in front of 9000 people. I think it is a perfect way to prepare for playing pro-basketball later on. I would like to thank Slammers Basketball Camp for helping me get a scholarship, at the University of Buffalo.
